Hello Lovelies!
Becca has been so gracious in letting me steal the spotlight in today’s blog!
I met the fabulous beauty team for a photo shoot, I had such a wonderful experience I had knew I wanted them as one of my sponsors and beauty coach. I worked with Becca at Pink Dot Beauty Bar over the past couples of months while prepping for the stage of Miss South Carolina USA. Representing Charleston, I knew that I absolutely had to work with someone local.
To say I have never felt more close to Sandra Bullock per her role in Miss Congeniality than I have leading up to Miss South Carolina USA would be an understatement! As a model first hand, I am used to having my hair and makeup done for me, but come show-time, it is all up to me to create the look that will leave the crowd in awe. I was beyond grateful that Becca took the time to show me how it’s done in girl world.
Most important lesson learned?
It is all in the brushes, ladies and gentlemen. “If you have the right tools, you can make anything happen,” would be said constantly to me when learning the tricks of the trade. It is so easy to get caught up in the glamour and glimmer of Ellis Faas eye lights and Kett Cosmetics highlight and contour fix cremes, but what good will they do you if you cannot correctly apply them? Whereas it is essential to have those products to complete your look, the brushes are what allow you to apply the product exactly the way you want it.
Digging past the surface, Pink Dot also introduced me to new methods of skin care. My skin is 100% combination; super-dry in some spots, a little oily in others. All of my life I have been cycling through products to help correct this issue and never been able to come across what I would now like to call my saving grace. I have been through umpteen moisturizers and toners, but never did I once try correcting the issue with the issue itself: OIL. Sunday Riley’s hydroactive cellular face oil product, Artemis, brought a whole new light to my skin and it has been glowing ever since the first week I began using it. Because of this product, my skin is now always stage ready and can handle the layers of makeup without reacting negatively.
It goes without saying that I have so much to thank Pink Dot Beauty Bar and Becca for. They not only prepped me to take the stage, but I now am able to apply and maintain a fresh face 24/7. It is so much more than bronzer and mascara, darlings.
XO,
Kristen Cook
