Uncharacteristically (I say that tongue-in-cheek, by the way) I got sucked into the magical marketing machine that is QVC. In the middle of the night, a perfectly made-up host educated me on the new ion technology that gives Calista Tools Hot Rollers their revolutionary edge… And I have to admit, I took the bait!
I think its important to mention that I have stick straight, color treated hair that won’t hold a curl on the driest of days, even with all the hair stars aligned and the hair Gods in really good moods… Hence the Challenge!
The long and short of it is, Calista Tools claims to get hot really quickly, and hold a curl for way longer than normal. Oh, and not damage our locks. Pretty ambitious if you ask me!
According to their marketing material, “these state-of-the-art curl rollers have the heating element in the roller itself allowing the heat to remain much longer as opposed to traditional hot rollers. Traditional hot rollers heat a plastic roller on a metal rod, allowing the heat to escape immediately after you remove it from the heated rod. To promote healthy hair, our CreatIon Technology of 32 mineral powders, are baked to create each roller with a state of the art ionic technology that lasts the life of the roller. This new technology allows our rollers to help reduce frizz, give added shine and extra volume to the hair. This is much different than all other traditional ion rollers that brush a coating of ions onto the roller after it is created resulting in ions wearing off the roller after a short amount of time.”
So, of course I ordered some! I haven’t received them in the mail yet, but I can assure you, as soon as I do, Ill let all you beauty gurus know what I think!
