Doesn’t it just feel like the end of the world when you drop your compact and the powder shatters into a million little pieces? Don’t despair- there is always a solution!! Instead of tossing it out, follow these simple instructions and bring your favorite pressed powders back to life.
What you’ll need: 70% alcohol {this works a billion times better than your typical rubbing alcohol from the drug store and can be purchased at the local art supply store}, plastic wrap, spatula, dropper, eyeliner brush, Q-tip {this is optional… if you’re a perfectionist… you know who you are!}
Step 1: Cover the compact with the plastic wrap and make sure it adheres tightly to contain everything.
Step 2: With the spatula, crush up the entire pan of powder (not just the broken pieces). You’re basically turning the pressed powder back into loose powder.
Step 3: Remove the plastic wrap and add at least 10 FULL droppers of alcohol. You can add it gradually to see how much you need.
Step 4: You’ll feel the powder become sponge-like and pliable, giving you the opportunity to even it out smoothly with your spatula.
Step 5: Use the eyeliner brush to smooth it out even further. Wait a few hours to allow it to dry and it’s like it never happened! To make it extra pretty, clear er’ up with a Q-tip.
Just like that, Problem Solved!
