Have you heard about a process called “dermaplaning” lately? Here’s the lowdown on the recent surge in facial razors for women.
But first, an excerpt from Dr. Elizabeth Hale, a dermatologist at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York, helps explain the process:
Dermaplaning is just a very simple physical or mechanical method of exfoliation, which helps to remove dead skin cells and give your face a brighter complexion…Since it removes some vellus hairs [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][the baby-fine hairs on your face], it can make the skin feel smoother.
There is actually quite a history behind the process of dermaplaning. It is believed that many famous women shaved their faces, including Cleopatra and Marilyn Monroe. Whether or not this is true, dermaplaning has made a huge comeback and is now incredibly common.
Particularly for all the makeup-lovers out there, facial razors are ideal for removing fine baby hairs that tend to become more visible when wearing makeup. It is a quick, easy way to smooth and prep your face for flawless skin!
Now, I’m sure you are thinking to yourself, “But doesn’t shaving make the hair come back thicker? Why would I risk shaving my face?”
It’s time to throw this worry out the window, ladies!
There is actually no scientific evidence to support this theory. Multiple studies have been done, and they have all reached the same conclusion: that shaving does not affect the thickness, coarseness, or darkness of one’s hair.
What it really all comes down to is perception. We stare at our faces constantly; we know our faces better than anyone else, and therefore we are more attuned to noticing when a new hair takes up residence on our chin.
Ladies, the fact of the matter is, dermaplaning can be incredibly beneficial for your skin’s health and appearance. So why not try it out? Stop by Pink Dot Beauty Bar and play with Tinkle face razors!
